Relax at City Park

One of Denver’s most beautiful things is City Park.

Head to the town square if you want to go out. Denver has a lot of parks, but this is one of the greatest. The best free activities in Denver for this weekend—or the entire weekend—are fantastic! It is easy to find a place in the park of 300 hectares.

Note that the park is a bit outside of downtown, so it is easier to get there by car or by using public transportation. We tried riding electric scooters from LoDo once. Needless to say, we don’t recommend trying to get there like that, haha! You can even go to City Park Jazz in the summer to hear music outside.

Attend the Christmas Market

The Denver Christmas Market is the perfect festival for winter.

I won’t lie; ever since moving here, one of our favorite Denver events has been the Denver Christkindl Market. It’s free to attend, though it can get quite crowded. We recommend going as early as possible in the day to avoid the long lines for food!

It’s held annually in December. Sometimes it starts in late November, leading up to Christmas. Free admission makes this one of the best free things to do in Denver at night (and over the holidays). However, you will have to pay if you want to try any of the food.

I would strongly suggest sampling some spaetzle, schnitzel, or gluhwein. Those have been our favorites, and they can’t be beaten! There are also usually some great desserts, too, if you have a bit of a sweet tooth.
